The device
What does Sporos do?
Sporos is a dedicated device for working with your Bitcoin seed: generating a new one, checking an existing backup and making new backups, all without typing your words into a phone or computer.
Does it connect to the internet?
No. Sporos is designed to stay offline. Your seed never leaves the device over a network connection.
Does Sporos hold my bitcoin?
No. Your bitcoin lives on the blockchain, and your seed is what controls it. Sporos helps you handle that seed safely. It is not a custodian and we never see your keys.
Can I verify how it works?
That is the goal. Details on the firmware and how to check it will be published before shipping.
Which wallets is it compatible with?
Sporos works with standard BIP-39 seed phrases, the format used by most Bitcoin wallets.
Security
How do I know my device was not tampered with?
Every device ships in tamper-evident packaging. If the seal is broken or missing, do not use the device and contact us at hello@sporos.io.
Will you ever ask for my seed phrase?
Never. Nobody from Sporos will ask for your seed phrase, private keys or PIN, by email, chat or any other channel. Anyone who does is trying to steal your bitcoin.
Orders & payment
How do I pay?
With bitcoin over the Lightning Network. At checkout you get a Lightning invoice to scan with your wallet. The order is confirmed as soon as it is paid.
Do I need an account?
No. You can check out as a guest. We only ask for what we need to ship your order.
